Summer Baseball: Franklin Legion tops Walpole in Zone 6 West

In a showdown between the top Legion teams in Zone 6 West on Thursday night, Franklin?s Anthony Chaiton allowed one run on six hits in a complete-game effort and Brendan Skidmore hit a two-run single in the third inning as Post 75 secured the top spot in the zone with a 3-1 win at Walpole.

Skidmore?s hit gave Franklin a 2-0 lead. Brad Rebello (2-for-3) added an insurance run in the sixth on a Kyle Skidmore sacrifice fly for Franklin, which improved to 19-4. Cam Flateau finished 2-for-4 for Post 75.

Top-seeded Franklin hosts the fifth seed in Zone 6 East when the playoffs start on Tuesday. Post 75 wraps up the regular season Friday night at Westwood.

NATICK 7, MALDEN 3: Jack Turner went the distance, allowing two earned runs on four hits and striking out eight to lead Natick Post 107 (4-12) to a Zone 5 victory over visiting Malden.

Turner also went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Tosh Campbell finished 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI for Post 107. Ryan Mooney was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Post 107.

BILLERICA 4, HUDSON 3: James Adams hit an RBI double in the seventh inning for Hudson to cut into Billerica?s lead, but Post 100 (12-5) was unable to find the equalizer in a Zone 5 matchup.

John Rumney went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, while Austin Bruneau allowed four earned runs on seven hits and struck out two in a complete game for Hudson.

NORTHBOROUGH 11, NORTH COUNTY 5: Luke Serra went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and Jon Friday went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and a walk as Northborough (11-14) recorded its third straight win by routing visiting North County in a Zone 4 game at Memorial Field.

Despite the win streak, Northborough was eliminated from state playoff contention with Framingham?s win over Grafton Hill on Thursday night. Post 234 plays its season finale at Grafton Hill on Friday at 7 p.m.

Owen Shea went 2-for-3, with a walk and three runs scored, and Jack Henningson went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI for Post 234, which scored twice in both the second and third innings, and pushed across three runs in the fourth to build a 7-1 lead after four.

Post 234 starter Matt Geoffrion allowed one run in three innings, Johnny Maguire worked 2 1/3 innings of relief, and Michael Stamas closed out the win with 1 2/3 scoreless innings of one-hit relief.

Senior Babe Ruth

ASHLAND 10, HOPKINTON 4: Collin Nanatovich went 2-for-2 with a triple, double, and five RBIs for Ashland (13-4) in a Central Mass. Senior Babe Ruth victory over visiting Hopkinton.

Thomas Schelling went 2-for-3 with a triple, double, three runs scored, and two RBIs, while Mike Lichtenstein allowed three earned runs and struck out six in five innings for Ashland.

Drew Donohue went 2-for-3 with an RBI double for Hopkinton.

BELLINGHAM 14, HOLLISTON 9: Joe Mangine went 3-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs and Michael Ryan also drove in three runs as Bellingham (14-4-1) clinched the top spot in CMSBR South by rolling past visiting Holliston (6-12-1) in a regular season finale.

Ryan?s solo homer led off a 10-run rally in the second inning. Taylor Sutherland went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and starting pitcher John Cutler allowed three earned runs in 4 1/3 innings to record the win as every player had at least one hit for Bellingham.

For Holliston, Chris White went 3-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Konnor Kozubal went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

MARLBOROUGH 5, MEDWAY 0: Nick Keymont threw a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts as Marlborough (11-7) blanked visiting Medway (9-10) in a CMSBR non-division game.

Keymont allowed five walks and only one runner past second base. Joel Wilner went 2-for-3 with two runs and two stolen bases, Lou Santiago went 1-for-2 with a run, and Keymont went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run for Marlborough, which scored a run in the first and two in both the third and fifth innings.

Michael Barry had both Medway hits and played outstanding defense in center field.

MEDFIELD 3, MILFORD 1: Starter John McMahon allowed one run on three hits over 5 1/3 innings and Bobby Tella hit an RBI single and then scored the game-winning run on Matt Bonde?s single in the fifth inning as Medfield (14-4) beat host Milford (5-14) in a CMSBR non-division game.

Jeff Besozzi hit an RBI double in the second to give Milford a 1-0 lead and starter Matt Hastings held Medfield scoreless until the fifth.

Sean Harrington doubled and scored on Justin Hirschfeld?s RBI single in the Medfield sixth.
