Coyle named assistant coach of Australias womens cricket team

Cricket Australia (CA) Thursday named Tim Coyle as the assistant coach of its national women's team for two years.

Coyle, who won multiple Sheffield Shield and One-day domestic titles with Tasmania as head coach before stepping down at the end of last season, will join the team for the upcoming women's Ashes series in England in August as they vie to retain the trophy won in 2011.

Coyke joins the team which has achieved laurels in the recent past having claimed the ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka last October and the ICC World Cup in India in February this year. The team is currently ranked No.1 in the world in all three formats.

The 52-year-old has been also give the role of national programme manager - fielding and wicketkeeping and will work with the state associations.

Speaking about the appointment, CA's executive general manager Pat Howard said: "Cricket Australia is extremely pleased that Tim Coyle will continue to play an integral role within Australian cricket. Tim has had extensive experience and achieved sustained success at the elite level and has a recognised ability to develop players."

Talking about his new role, Coyle said: "I'm excited about the next phase of my coaching career and taking on this diverse role that will enable me to work across men's and women's programmes within Australian cricket."
