StamfordPlus.com News - Madison launches home energy promotion

Madison, CT - Madison has kicked off a one-year promotion to help its residents reduce their energy consumption, save money on their utility bills, and support the Town of Madison?s Energy Assistance Program?the Neighbor to Neighbor Fund?through participation in the Home Energy Solutions (HES) program.

Home Energy Solutions is a convenient home energy improvement service that is designed to help people save money on their monthly energy bills. For a $75 co-pay, licensed technicians install an average of $700 of energy efficiency products and weatherization services in a home or apartment and saves homeowners and renters an average of $200 each year following implementation.

The Town of Madison and the Madison Town Energy & Efficiency Committee have partnered with licensed Home Energy Solutions vendors, New England Conservation Services and Energy Resource Group Technologies. Each vendor will make a $75 donation to the town?s energy assistance program for each home that signs up for a HES service within the first 60 days of the promotion; $50 in the following 60 days; and $25 thereafter through October 2013. The Town of Madison?s Energy Assistance Program?the Neighbor to Neighbor Fund?provides residents with energy assistance to heat their homes.

?The Home Energy Solutions program promotion is a great way for our residents to not only save money on their energy bill and help the environment, but also help out fellow residents in need,? said Madison First Selectman Fillmore McPherson said.

In addition to participating in the town wide HES promotion, Madison is one of the leading communities to take advantage of energy-saving programs for municipal and school buildings. These initiatives have helped to save money on utility expenses and make the community more sustainable. It is a partnership between the Energy Efficiency Fund, the Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority (CEFIA) and local electric and gas utilities.

Through participation in energy-saving programs, such as Home Energy Solutions, residents can help Madison earn points toward rewards. For every 100 points earned through participation in Energy Efficiency Fund programs, Madison will receive a ?Bright Idea Grant? of $10,000 that can be used toward a community-selected energy-saving project, such as hiring an energy auditor to assess/benchmark municipal buildings or to leverage existing funds to make energy-saving improvements to a school.

In the coming week, town residents will receive a letter and brochure on the HES promotion in the mail. For additional information on the promotion or to sign up for a HES service, please call 877-389-3221.
