College spotlight: Sada Stewart helps Princeton swim to Ivy League title

York Suburban graduate Sada Stewart earned points in six events to help the Tigers beat Harvard by more than 100 points.

Freshman Sada Stewart had a big meet for the Princeton women's swim team as the Tigers outlasted defending champion Harvard to capture their 21st Ivy League championship. Princeton, winner of 11 of the last 14 titles, finished with 1,474.5 points to beat Harvard by more than 100 points.

Stewart, a York Suburban graduate, finished second in both the 100 backstroke (53.53) and 200 backstroke (1:55.99) and third in the 200 IM (1:55.42). All three are NCAA Division I B cut times, and the 200 back mark broke the pool record.

In all, Stewart was credited with 127 points with her individual efforts and her work with three relay teams. The 800 free relay finished first in 7:12.64, the 400 free team was second (3:19.04) and the 400 medley relay was second (3:37.49).

"We are so proud of Sada and her performance last weekend," coach Susan Teeter said. "She is such a great competitor and I love that she always has a smile on her face and is ready to compete in any race asked of her."

"Sada had lifetime best swims in all three of her individual races," Teeter said. "And she was a key performer in our relays, as well, anchoring the 800 free for its come-from-behind victory and leading off on the record breaking 400 medley relay."
