Kazakhstan angry spoof anthem played at event

(AP) ? Kazakhstan has labeled the playing of a spoof of its national anthem at an international sporting event "a scandal," and demanded a probe into the incident.

Maria Dmitrienko won a gold medal for Kazakhstan on Thursday at the Arab Shooting Championships in Kuwait, but during the awards ceremony the public address system broadcast the spoof anthem from the 2006 movie "Borat," which offended many Kazakhs by portraying the country as backwards and degenerate.

Foreign ministry spokesman Ilyas Omarov told the ITAR-Tass news agency the incident "is, of course, a scandal and demands a thorough investigation, which we intend to conduct."

ITAR-Tass reported shooting team member Oksana Stavitskaya as saying that Asian Shooting Federation President Sheikh Salman al-Sabah had apologized to the team.

Santorum looks to Louisiana to revive campaign

US Republicans on Saturday hold a primary in the southern state of Louisiana, where underdog Rick Santorum is hoping for a big win over frontrunner Mitt Romney.

But even an expected knock-out performance here for Santorum will not make much of a dent in Romney's commanding lead in all-important delegates.

Romney has now won 21 out of 33 nomination contests, while former Pennsylvania senator Santorum has notched up 10 wins -- largely with the help of evangelical Christians and the party's most conservative members.

Pressure is increasing for Republicans to rally behind Romney to end the bloody and divisive primary battle before it hurts the party's chances of defeating Obama and winning the White House.

On Friday, the party found unity in raining criticism upon Obama on the second anniversary of his landmark health care reform.

But comments by Santorum pushed that off the news cycle.

He told supporters "we might as well stay with what we have" if the best the Republican Party can do is nominate someone "who's just going to be a little different than the person in there."

Romney immediately pounced on the remark, expressing disappoinment Santorum would "rather have Barack Obama as president than a Republican.

"This election is more important than any one person," he added.

While Romney focused his campaign appearances on attacking so-called Obamacare as an "unfolding disaster for the American economy," his surrogates were deployed to pound Santorum.

"Senator Santorum is going off the rails," Ted Kanavas, a former state senator and chair of Romney's Wisconsin campaign, said in a statement.

Jim Roddey, a party county chair from Santorum's home state of Pennsylvania, disparaged the candidate's "arrogant remarks," as "the most inappropriate comments made by any Republican candidate for president in recent history."

Such "outbursts" will only weaken the party in an election where turnout will be crucial, said conservative blogger John Hayward.

"It is absolutely unacceptable for the Number Two candidate to tell his supporters they might as well stay home if the other guy wins the nomination," he wrote on the Human Events news website.

Santorum had a 14-point lead over Romney in Louisiana in a survey released by Public Policy Polling, thanks in part to conservatives abandoning former House speaker Newt Gingrich.

But the victory could be one of Santorum's last as the race heads to states where Romney has the advantage.

The former Massachusetts governor was ahead by 13 points in a Rasmussen survey of voters in the midwestern state of Wisconsin, which heads to the polls on April 3 along with Maryland and the US capital Washington.

Santorum is expected to carry his home state of Pennsylvania in the following contest on April 24.

But that victory would be overshadowed if Romney managed to sweep New York, Connecticut, Delaware and Rhode Island, in votes the same day.

Santorum's campaign said earlier this week it was looking ahead to May, when the southern states of North Carolina, West Virginia, Kentucky, Arkansas and Texas vote.

It has also vowed to take the fight all the way to the Republican convention in August if Romney is not able to win the 1,144 delegates needed to clinch the nomination.

But if enough of the party's "super delegates" throw their weight behind Romney, the race could effectively be over long before then.

Romney currently has an estimated 560 delegates, while Santorum has won 246, according to the website Real Clear Politics.

Gingrich, who has won two states, has 141 delegates, while Texas Representative Ron Paul, who has not won a single contest, has 66 thanks to the proportional distribution of some delegates.

Since many states award delegates at state conventions, the results of nominating events do not translate easily into an exact delegate count.

Knockout of the week part II: Dennis Siver?s spinning back kick

MMA judges do not award points for originality, and wins are still wins whether they happen with style or not. But that doesn't mean MMA fans won't appreciate a knockout with a little flair from time to time.

Dennis Siver brought that panache to his fight with Nate Mohr at UFC 93. He took him out with a spinning back kick to the abdomen and following up punches.

Siver then used the same attack to take out Paul Kelly at UFC 105. Watch Siver's next bout on UFC on Fuel in April.

Business to Business PR | The Board Magazine

Sometimes called B2B PR is 100 per cent different to the sort of PR you hear about with celebrities, paparazzi and champagne. It?s even legal, decent and truthful! There?s a total culture difference and thankfully, editors of trade magazines are not out to sell copies based on sensationalism ? they?re in the business of providing high quality, relevant information to their readers about their market sector. Your market sector.

In fact, because most trade journals actually have a staff of only one and bit (the editor and a part time advertising sales rep), they are almost totally dependent on material submitted by companies. So if you?re providing a flow of high quality press releases and feature articles, or case studies, they?ll use it. If you don?t, they?ll use your competitors? material instead.

Running, as I do, a PR division, you?d probably expect me to tell you at this point that PR is a really difficult black art. But it?s not. Granted, we have learned a trick or two over the years which help, but the core skill is simple hard work and gentle sales technique.

The B2B PR game plan is:

Analyse the journals in the sector (remember that many are online magazines these days) and understand what the editors want.
Brainstorm the subjects on which your company has something to say and then speak to the relevant editors.
Write and distribute press releases on any real news stories you have ? but don?t send rubbish. This way, editors will come to know that your releases will be worth reading and they won?t get binned along with the hundreds of dreadful non-stories they receive every week.
Keep a steady flow of material heading towards the editors. Properly done, you should be able to feature in the key titles 10 months out of 12 ? maybe even 12/12!
Use a cutting service to make sure you pick up on all the coverage you obtain. And don?t just file it; you can reprint into a direct mail, put it on your website or hand out items, which makes excellent and authoritative ammunition for the sales force.
If you don?t want to do all of this yourself, then consider using a PR agency but only one that specialises in your sector. Ask one of the Editors for his/her recommendation.

Cost Effective B2B advertising is far from cheap with a typical colour page costing from ?1700 to ?2500 plus the cost of producing the advert. To be effective, it needs to be regular and in several magazines. Budgets need to be in the hundreds of thousands to be effective. B2B PR on the other hand can start from ?zero if you do it yourself and as little as ?15k a year using an agency. You can achieve editorial coverage valued at many times what you spend.

We regularly calculate the Advertising Equivalent Value for our own clients and frequently achieve Return On Investment from 1000 per cent and upwards.

Of course, there are also good reasons to advertise ? particularly when you need to get over a message which is not ?news?. And of course if no-one advertises there won?t be any magazines left for PR to work in. So it is a responsibility to support sector magazines with advertising too.

TRW Automotive (NYSE:TRW): An Auto Stock For All Seasons ...

By?Tyler Kocon
TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. (NYSE:TRW)
Currently, the average age of cars and light trucks in the U.S. is 10.8 years. The average age of cars and light trucks in the U.S. back in 1996 was 8.4 years, according to?R.L. Polk & Co.?That is an increase of over 28%. Why does it matter that the average car on the road is so much older than it was 15 years ago? As the economy recovers and American consumers are starting to?spend again, it stands to reason that vehicle purchases, especially if the average age of a car on the road is 10.8 years, could be on the rise.

Looking at new vehicle sales data found on?motorintelligence.com, it is pretty clear that vehicle sales are indeed on the rise. Total car sales for February 2012 were up 23.9% versus February 2011. Light truck sales were up 7.6% year-over-year this past February and SUV sales were up 11.8% in the same time frame. These increased auto sales seem to have contributed to a good start to the year for auto manufacturers. How can investors benefit from these increased auto sales?

From an investment standpoint it may seem pretty simple ? buy Ford Motor Company?(NYSE:F)?or General Motors?(NYSE:GM)?or Toyota Motor Corporation?(NYSE:TM)?and hopefully participate in the increasingly robust returns of the automotive industry. There?s just one major question left to answer: Which auto company do you choose? Year-to-date Ford, General Motors, and Toyota are all beating the S&P 500?s returns by more than 5%, according to?Google Finance.?General Motors and Toyota have both returned over 26% year-to-date.

So far this year almost any major manufacturer would have been a good pick. It seems that the automotive industry as a whole is fairly healthy at the moment, but choosing one manufacturer over another can be difficult. That?s when a company like?TRW Automotive Holdings Corp.?(NYSE:TRW)?could be a diamond in the rough.

What are some things that all cars have in common? Autos need items such as seatbelts, steering wheels and airbags. Instead of trying to single-out which manufacturer is the best, why not find a company that provides products to a wide array of auto companies? That is exactly what TRW Automotive does. TRW supplies manufacturers with everything from electronic and steering systems, to braking systems and occupant safety systems.

So far this year TRW is up over 42% (again this is from Google Finance) and still only has a P/E of 5.26. With a?beta?of 3.46 this stock may not be for the faint of heart, but if you feel that the economy is improving and the automotive industry is picking up steam, then TRW may deserve a place in your portfolio.

Web Site Creation

Web site creation is an art that needs balancing aesthetic considerations, with providing content that satisfies search engine requirements and meets the desires from the website creator. There are a selection of different reasons for creating a web site. Some examples are blogging web sites where the creator has specific opinions that they want to discuss, a web site that acts as advertisement for any physical business or one that sells products or services.

Whatever the reason for the creation of an online site, one important aspect is generating traffic. The use of search engine techniques is one means of doing this. Creating articles online that contain keywords that happen to be commonly searched for is one means of doing this. This improves the ranking of the web site through search engines, making it easier for people browsing the net to find.

While website content helps individuals find your site, this may not be the only role it plays. The information that is available helps individuals to determine whether they are interested in your site and whatever you have to offer. Additionally, web sites offer a way of keeping people up-to-date with news and information as it receives.

Custom web site creation offers a number of advantages to web sites designed for any purpose. One of those is branding. Developers of professional sites are often able to create unique logos for websites on the internet, as well as associated images and backgrounds. These could be used to create a consistent image to get a website.

Functionality of internet sites vary significantly. They may be as simple as a give page site, with a main page and 3 to 5 pages that link off it. Conversely, the internet site may have a large number of subpages, forum functionality, flash images, and several other features. While many people will be able to creation web, more complex ones involve a tremendous understanding of the software involved and therefore are much better handled by professional companies.

Internet websites that are comprehensive, clear to see and uncluttered generally attract more attention than those which might be confusing with little relevant content. Finding a professional design is specially important if your website is included in direct selling of products or services. Professionals understand the requirements of the industry, plus the difference between secure and non-secure transactions.

These aspects can certainly produce a crucial difference when you use a professional web page, especially one that?s designed for business purposes. It is crucial for both the business as well as the clients that transactions are efficient and secure. Without this, it is easy to lose sales on account of problems with financial transactions.

Consequently, when using a web site for business or for personal interest, design for the site is of crucial importance. When the aim of the site is always to simply share opinions, a simple web site design could be enough. However, should the web site aims to offer an online product, then obtaining custom web page creation is the most efficient strategy to use.
